LBP was notified by the Institute of Mobility and Transport (IMT) that vehicles dedicated to the transport of patients assigned to firefighters will now be exempt from paying toll fees.
According to the LBP, these vehicles dedicated to the transport of patients were excluded 10 years ago from the exemption from the payment of tolls.
LBP considers the replacement a fair measure, since these vehicles are used not only for transporting patients for consultations, exams or physiotherapy, but also for the removal of populations at risk and for transporting firefighters to the various theatres of operations, in particular fires.
The IMT decision follows “an instruction received from the office of the Secretary of State for Infrastructure”, with this entity having notified the concessionaires to “proceed with the attribution of exemption from the payment of toll fees to vehicles dedicated to the transport of patients” assigned to the associations that own fire departments, according to a letter from the IMT sent to the LBP.
The IMT also instructed the concessionaires to proceed “with the extinction of all pending administrative infraction and tax enforcement proceedings due to non-payment of toll fees” of the vehicles.
The end of tolls for all volunteer fire vehicles was one of the LBP's demands.
