Two euro coin scam warning

Spanish police have issued a warning on social media about a scam involving two euro coins.

By TPN, in News, Crime · 17 Nov 2022, 09:01 · 1 Comments

According to the police and reports in NM, scammers are trying to use a Turkish lira in place of a two-euro coin, both coins look very similar but the Turkish lira is actually only worth about 0.052 euros.

ABC newspaper states that this scam is not new in Spain, with the Turkish lira circulating in the country at least since 2005. The Spanish daily indicates that the same occurs with other international currencies, such as the bolivar, Jamaican dollars or the Polish zloty.

It would have been much more informative if the coins were not "cut in half"!
