In a statement, the Faro territorial command of the GNR indicated that one of the defendants, a 32-year-old woman, is suspected of being involved in a hit and run which resulted in the death of a man, on November 18, on the EN269, in Algoz, Silves.
The driver is said to have continued her journey “without providing assistance to the victim, who ended up dying on the spot”.
The woman, indicted for the crimes of negligent homicide and omission of assistance, was identified and made a defendant on Tuesday, following an investigation by the Núcleo de Investigação de Crimes em Acidentes de Viação (NICAV).
“During the investigation, it was possible to identify and locate the vehicle, which had already been repaired, which led to its seizure and the identification of the driver”.
The other defendant is a 61-year-old man, who is suspected of being the driver of a vehicle that collided with a bicycle and who “left the scene without providing assistance” to the 54-year-old rider, who suffered serious injuries.
According to the GNR, the accident occurred on 20 November, on Estrada Nacional 125, in the municipality of Lagos, with the driver identified and the vehicle being located a day later, following an investigation initiated by the NICAV.
The man is indicted for the crimes of offenses to physical integrity, negligence in a road accident, and omission of assistance.
