Day trippers from France who are heading to Jersey on commercial ferries will now able to travel using just their ID cards.

According to the BBC, the change in rules comes after a “significant decline” in French visitors to Jersey since Brexit. The scheme was announced by Deputy Helen Miles, Minister for Home Affairs, who said: "It is important that we are all working together to enable French residents to visit our beautiful island and give them the flexibility they need to do so.

This is a good idea. Canada-USA have a NEXUS card which speeds up cross-border travel without a passport. My brother is a Canadian farmer and has used it wrt farm business and crossing the border.
